A Collection of Cosy Autumn Moments

“This is the season of the witch…

We’re deep into October now, and everything is feeling a little bit spooky. I’ve been obsessing over Agatha All Along, watching old black and white horror films and eating way too much Halloween candy.

It’s not all ghouls and ghosts, though. I’ve also been making time for all my favourite cosy activities, so come and take a peek at what I’ve been up to lately.

I love thrifting all year round, but I particularly love it during the autumn months.

There’s something about the racks of knitted sweaters, Halloween decor on the shelves and the potential to uncover that the perfect seasonal item.

I ended up leaving this beautiful pumpkin dish behind, but I’m having serious regrets now. I hope it found a home with someone who will cherish it as much as I would have.

One item I did snap up was this original Goosebumps book straight out of the 90s. It’s a little tattered and dogeared, but that just makes me love it even more.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for them whenever I visit a charity shop, and it’s always a fun little thrill when I spot one. They’re perfect for conjuring up those spooky Halloween vibes.

Speaking of Halloween…

One of my favourite autumn activities is, of course, pumpkin picking. We head over to the patch at the beginning of every October, and this year was no exception.

It was so much fun to share our tradition with Koye, and she helped us pick out a selection of perfect pumpkins. I can’t wait to carve them up on Halloween night!

There’s something so fun about pushing a wheelbarrow filled with pumpkins around the fields and digging through the crates of kabocha to find the best ones for soup-making. Our kitchen is now completely filled with autumn produce, and I couldn’t be happier about it.

As well as pumpkins and squash, we’ve added some other seasonal touches to our home. Now that the nights are starting to draw in earlier, everything feels extra-cosy.

There’s a pile of seasonal books on the coffee table, soft plush pumpkins dotted everywhere and a selection of warm blankets in the corner. Not pictured: my Gilmore Girls magazine, which is an absolute essential at this time of year.

If I had to choose a favourite, it’s a toss-up between the string of felt pumpkins across the fireplace, the Merry Mushrooms plant spike that I found in an antique store in America or the vintage mushroom soup mug from a charity shop.

This cute fuzzy pumpkin is also a serious contender.

I’ve been quite restrained in my seasonal decor purchases this year as I’m trying to reuse everything as much as possible, but I just had to add these pumpkin-patterned tea towels to our kitchen. How perfect are they?

We’re almost halfway through October already, and I’m resolving to take more photographs this season. I have so many fun activities coming up this month, including a cosy trip to the countryside and a visit to the creepy new Serial Killer exhibition in London.

There are films to watch, books to read, recipes to make and woodland walks filled with crunchy leaves. I love capturing these moments during my favourite time of year, and I hope to have many more to share soon.
