Wrapping Christmas gifts is an art form.
From choosing a theme to selecting the perfect paper and all the little extras, I feel like Van Gogh creating a masterpiece during the festive season.
I like to think I’m pretty good at styling an eye-catching present, and they always look lovely under the tree on Christmas Eve.
So to celebrate the start of December I wanted to walk you through some of my favourite gift wrapping designs from Christmas past.
Forest-Inspired and Botanical
You can’t go wrong with mushrooms and forests, even at Christmas. It may not be particularly festive, but it sure looks good.

While this specific design is no longer available, I found a similar woodland foliage wrapping paper design in WHSmith.
The star of the show is undoubtably this beautiful mushroom label design. It is stunning, and I’m devastated that Tesco aren’t selling them again this year.
To achieve a similar look, try these cute mushroom labels from Etsy for that forest-inspired botanical vibe.
Simple and Natural
An easy and cost-effective way to wrap Christmas gifts, I love this simple take on the holiday season.

I used brown paper and natural twine, and cut foliage from our garden to add a festive and seasonal touch. This was such a cost-effective technique, and the result was completely Pinterest-worthy.
While I prefer to use fresh and natural foliage, you can buy artificial pine branches if you’re worried about them drying out too much before Christmas Day.
Creative and Festive
This was a fun (although slightly fiddly!) Christmas gift-wrapping method, and I’m obsessed with how they turned out.

I wrapped everything in my trusty brown paper, tied them with string and glued tiny festive-coloured pom-poms all over each gift. I think the peppermint-striped string really pulled this idea together, and the star-shaped labels were the perfect finishing touch.
My advice is to use super-strong glue and be very careful with how you handle these gifts, as the red and white pom-poms seemed to have a mind of their own sometimes!
If you don’t want to do it yourself, Ginger Ray has an adorable pom-pom ribbon that adds the perfect finishing touch to your Christmas gifts.
Quirky and Fun
Not everything has to be perfectly curated and Pinterest-worthy – sometimes you just want to have some fun at Christmas!

I couldn’t resist this quirky dinosaur-printed Christmas gift wrap. I mean, they’re wearing Santa hats. It’s just too cute!
This wrapping paper was from Paperchase six years ago (how time flies!) and unfortunately, their selection just hasn’t been the same since the physical stores closed earlier this year.
But there are still so many fun takes on Christmas wrapping paper available in the high street and online – I love this cute Brussels sprouts pattern by Martha and Hepsie.
Remember that no matter how you wrap your presents, it’s the thought that counts. After all, it all gets thrown away at the end of the day!
